It is a 37 year old trade and fiscal harmonisation block in South East Asia.

It hangs on the fact that Thailand, the Philippines and Cambodia survived relatively uninjured and were able to reboot the less fortunate nations in the zone after 1972. The bloc was formed in 1977.
