Note that some places like Yemen and Australia got away with it all, while some places like Cuba and Korea are an uninhabitable and toxic wasteland. The nations of Cuba, N. Korea and S. Korea were attack, heavily nuked and the mainland was reduced to an pile of sterile, uninhabitable, atomic ruins. Remember a nation which has been permanently destroyed on this level cannot be used, I.E.- no super mutants or wired sci-fi stuff, just death and a handful of foolhardy explorers!
In the 1950's Korea served as a proxy battleground for the two powers, and while North Korea had a strong sense of independence from foreign powers, playing China off of Russia and vice versa, South Korea had heavy US influence and a substantial military presence of over 40,000 troops. The two nations were technically at war up into the 1980's.
Cuba[]

The islands of Cayo Guillermo, Cayo Coco, Cayo Romano, Cayo Guajaba, Cayo Sabinal, Cayo Santa Maria, Cayo Paredón Grande, Cayo Cruz and Isla de la Juventud were devastated and only a few Medieval villages and cancer victims remain.
About 8,500 local Cubans (plus ex-pats, tourists and overseas staff like ambassadorial staff) live on.
Korea[]
Only Jeju Island (제주특별자치도 / 濟州特別自治道) was devastated and on the mainland, only a few Medieval type villages and cancer victims remain.

Poland[]

The Republic Wizna, Goniądz, Burzyn and the River Biebrza is a wretched survivor nation of about 180,000 people who only just clinging on to life in the ruins of north eastern Poland near the border with Lithuania, which was all but destroyed in World War 3. There is also a minor nation on the Polish-Slovakian border.
Korean held Manchuria[]
The Peoples' Republic of Korea (the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture forms the coral territory) is a approximate 200,000 strong territory in eastern Manchuria and is in the same post war dilemma as the The Republic Wizna, Goniądz, Burzyn and the River Biebrza. The Peoples' Republic of Korea is roughly 60% Korean, 29% Han Chinese, 9% Manchu, 1% Hui and 1% Mongol.
Poogin Nodongjagu, Poogin Workers' District, Poogin Coal Mine were cleared of all people due to toxic fallout and extreme damage in the war, it became habitable in 2008. The Manchurian based The Peoples' Republic of Korea ( China’s long standing Korean ethnic minority) layer claimed to it in 1982 and it was explored by China in 1972 and the PRK in 1988. Legally the PRK own the former Korean land and China has let them take it over.
